Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - What to expect
What is the Abu Dhabi F1 race circuit called?
Yas Marina Circuit.
When is the Abu Dhabi race scheduled?
30th October - 1st November 2009
How to reach Yas Marina Circuit?
Land at Abu Dhabi International Airport and move towards Yas MarinaCircuit by road situated on a natural island.
What to expect from the race?
Watch out for this F1 race as it is the only twilight race scheduled in the F1 calender.
No. of laps : 55
Race starting time : 17:00 hrs (Abu Dhabi time)
Selected quotes:
David Coulthard : "Having had the opportunity to drive the circuit, what struck me is that it's a two-stage track; the first half of the lap until corner nine is typical of the new type of track,"
"There's the fast section at the beginning from Turn One to the Turn Four tight hairpin with the grandstand literally overhead, giving great viewing for the spectators.
"The 1.2 kilometre back straight should give an opportunity for some slipstreaming and overtaking and then the back section of the circuit has a real street circuit feel to it, where you come along the section that takes you to the hotel and then passes underneath it, via a series of 90 degree right-handers and left-handers before opening out to the end of the lap and a medium speed corner on to the start-finish straight.
"The pit lane entry is very challenging, as is the exit, which is actually in a tunnel under the circuit and is going to make it particularly challenging for the drivers coming in and out of pit stops.
"There are great facilities and air-conditioned garages which will make working conditions in the heat a little bit easier and also having an evening race will obviously take some of the heat out of what can be a very hot venue.
"I think the twilight aspect of the race will be more of a visual treat for the spectators and the TV audience, but I think for the drivers it will be absolutely fine, as there is enough overhead lighting to make it blend seamlessly from day into night, no problem."

New South Wales win Champions league 20-20
Another Australian team was crowned champions tonight!!!
New South Wales beat Trinidad and Tobago by 41 runs in Hyderabad to lift the inaugral Champions league20-20 trophy. The night belonged to Bret Lee who performed both with the bat and ball. NSW were struggling at 83/6 in the 12th over when Lee came at the crease. His smashing 48 runs in 31 balls along with Steven Smith who scored 33 ensured that NSW reached 159/9.
After performing with the bat he was back in action with the ball claiming 2/10 and reducing the oppositon to 21/3. Trinidad and Tobago never looked like they would achieve the target and it seemed that their fairytale journey had reached its end.
The tournamet failed to generate the intrest that IPL had generated mainly because all the IPL teams failed to reach the semi finals. It can be seen that all the teams which had a bonding reached the semi finals which was missing from the IPL teams as they had less time to bond and prepare themselves. But in the end the better team won so congratulation to NSW for winning this championship.
